How can Talmage Music be an
extension to your home studio?
The past decade of advances in technology have brought a huge increase in
home recording and music studios. It seems like almost every neighborhood these
days has someone running something like Pro Tools, Sonar, or Garage Band. In
many ways, these home studios have much of the production horsepower of major
label studios from past decades. And, more importantly, this provides a channel for
quality, creative ideas to be crafted that would previously have been impossible
due to cost and technology barriers. Although you still can't buy a plug-in that
puts talent and good ideas into your brain, a few thousand dollars and the corner of a bedroom can give you much of
what you need to shape your talent and good ideas into a very real and very
professional product.
However, most home studios hit key limitations from time to time. You can
usually do a huge amount pre-production and post-production in the home studio. And, there
is quite a bit of tracking you can do at home as well. But, you can't fit the
whole band in the corner of your bedroom. Since nothing beats the whole band
playing together like a band, you need enough space, mics, preamps, and inputs
to put them all together. Sometimes, you need more or better mics and outboard gear
than your budget allows. It is hard to justify a $3,200 Focusrite Liquid Channel,
a $4,500 Neumann M149, or a $65,000 Yamaha C7 grand piano when you only need to use them from time to time. And,
it gets pretty hard to kick everyone else out of the house for a couple days
while you have all the band equipment set up in the living room. Even when
you do have the band setup at home, your living room usually isn't tuned in for
optimal acoustics, isolation, etc.
That's where Talmage Music can become a key part of your production process.
Spend those countless hours of pre-production at home. Then, when its time for that
critical tracking phase that you just can't quite get done in the bedroom, use Talmage Music for its
great rooms, mics, outboard
gear, sweet grand piano, and (if needed) production
and engineering collaboration. Then take it all back to the home studio to
finish all the post-production, final tracking, editing, mixing, and mastering. Its like having a full scale
recording studio on a bedroom studio budget.

Take full advantage of your own extensive knowledge and capabilities. Just
use Talmage Music to fill in the blanks that, for good reason, haven't made
sense for you to invest in. Talmage Music is the extension to your home studio.
